Day 1: Maun to Mboma Island Camp, Moremi Game Reserve – Botswana
This Botswana Tented Safari begins with a scenic flight from the Maun airport to Mboma Island Camp. The short flight takes you over Botswana's prime wilderness area, the Okavango Delta, in a small fixed-wing plane. Watch for roaming wildlife below as you fly to the north-western tip of Moremi Game Reserve where Mboma Camp is located.
Back at our safari camp, we tuck into a tasty dinner in the dining tent. Then you can sit back around the flickering campfire under the stars - the perfect way to end off your first day in the beautiful wilderness of northern Botswana.
Day 2: Mboma Island Camp, Moremi Game Reserve – Botswana
On a mokoro trip, you will be poled through the watery channels of the Okavango Delta in a traditional-style dugout canoe. A local guide stands in the back of each canoe and moves it through the water using a long pole, like a gondolier. You get to sit back and relax while taking in the untamed surroundings as you gently glide along.
After our morning's adventures out in the bush, we return to the semi-luxury tented camp where hot bucket showers await. After freshening up we have a late breakfast in the dining tent followed by free time to rest and take it easy at the camp. Later on, we embark on another game-viewing adventure of your choice. As darkness falls we return to the lantern-lit camp looking out for nocturnal creatures along the way. Back at tented camp, hot bucket showers await, followed by a delicious dinner. Then it is time to unwind around the glowing campfire under starry skies.
Day 3: Mboma Island to Camp Savuti, Chobe Park – Botswana
We are up bright and early on day three. Kick start the day with coffee and light snacks at the tented camp overlooking the delta floodplains.
Then we take a short drive to the Xakanaxa airstrip and board our light aircraft for the short flight to Camp Savuti. Arriving in the western region of Chobe National Park, your guide is there to collect you and drive you to Camp Savuti, our next camp on this Botswana Tented Safari. When you reach the tented camp on the banks of the Savuti Channel, your host welcomes you and provides an introductory briefing.
After sunset, we continue our search for wildlife and birds as we return to our tented camp for dinner. After dinner, you can ease into a laid-back evening around the campfire in the open-air boma.
Day 4: Camp Savuti, Chobe Park – Botswana
We explore the Savuti Marsh region on our game drives in open-sided safari vehicles. This region is world-famous for its exceptional game viewing so get ready for a rewarding wildlife adventure! Savuti is known for its numerous lions, African wild dogs and hyenas, as well as hosting cheetahs, leopards, zebras, and various kinds of antelope.
Our game drive ends back at the tented camp where a tasty full breakfast is served. Breakfast is followed by leisure time to soak up the wild setting at camp and enjoy the views from your own small deck.
Later we have lunch and rest then we have tea at the safari camp and embark on an afternoon game drive. Back out in Chobe National Park, we pause for our scenic African sunset, sundowners in hand. Then we return to the safari camp, game viewing en route. Tonight we have a special dinner out on the deck and unwind around the campfire under the stars.
Day 5: Camp Savuti to Maun – Botswana
Enjoy a final breakfast next to the Savuti Channel in Chobe Park this morning. Then you are transferred to the airstrip looking out for wildlife on the 30-minute drive. Reaching the airstrip, you fly back to Maun or nearby Kasane.
Time to say farewell to the wild African bush you experienced on this authentic Botswana Tented Safari, until next time.
We set off into the bush on a final game walk or glide along the delta channels in mekoros or boats. The activity options will be determined by flight departure times. After our morning activity, we return to the camp for breakfast overlooking the peaceful delta. Then it is time to bid farewell to the pristine Okavango Delta, catching your flight to Maun.
